Paper Flower Craft Tips & Tricks – Time Investment

Sharing is caring!

One frequently asked question I get is how much time it takes to make large paper flowers (link to 03_Large Paper Flower Easy Tutorial) and how much can it cost. I will be giving you a detailed breakdown of eight large paper flowers to serve as a base to calculate the time you need for a project.

Templates – link here – You are looking at about $6 to $15 dollars for high-end templates. Let me be the first one to say that “yes” you can get free templates (I have some for you as well), but for luxury paper flowers you’ll most likely need a versatile and well-designed template. Let’s not forget that you can use Design Space to create your own petals.

Project Set up in Cricut – if you go the easy path (but wasteful) where you generate the number of petals you need, but you let the Design Space software position them on the mat, you are looking at about 1 hour. This path is wasteful because Design Space doesn’t do the best job of maximizing the real estate space and you’ll end up using more paper than if you take the not wasteful path and position the petals yourself and attach them before cutting. This can take you about 2 hours.

Cutting Petals with Cricut – Takes about 1 hour for 8 flowers, base for the flowers, plus fringes and the other centerpieces.

Cutting Petals by hand – You are still looking at about 2.5 hours. Because it takes time to print the templates, cut them, trace them and then do all of your cuts.

Putting the flowers together – If you are new to it, it can be up to 30 minutes per flower. You’ll spend 30 minutes whether it is a large flower or small because all the petals need to be glued on and so on. The total is 4 hours.

Total Time – If you are not a beginner and have gifted hands, your time should be about 5 hours, but it could easily turn in longer if you decide to add more.
